This is down in the financial district again, and I've always loved this store. Nothing says 'New York' to me like our quirky in-your-face merchandising style. So many people are forced to cram in shoulder to shoulder on this little island, and they all want your attention for one reason or another. This is one of the little guys, reminding us with an irreverent wink that a store full of hosiery is just as important to this city as the most powerful stock exchange in the world. I've never been in a city that displays as much stubborn pride as people do in New York at every level of society. Because we know that people all over the world are watching us, we never miss an opportunity to remind them that this isn't an easy city to love. It can be downright foul and uncooperative at times. But it's our home, dammit, and we all manage to find small personal ways to show the city that we've got it's back.
