Word to your mother. I don't know how she did it, but the Mommy Pop Star managed to turn a perfectly respectable media whore moment into something that just seems kind of icky. Faux-lesbian tongue kissing: Hot. Delusional faux-mystic energy transfers: Ew.
In a totally underwhelming season finale, the best reality show on television crowned a Texas patternmaker the new fashion hotness. I agree with The Manolo, though: "the collection of the Chloe looks like the overstuffed sofa and ottoman set in the living room of the aging Texas debutante. All that is needed is the addition of the extravagant gold tassels." I felt that Santino's collection was the most interesting, but agreed with the judges that his fit was lacking. But the real story here is obviously the most dashing man on television, Tim Gunn. I saw him at a Gristede's in the West Village about 2 months ago, and literally couldn't keep my eyes off of him. Good thing I don't have a Daddy complex, or I may have swooned. When Daniel panics on the finale because two of his hideous woodshop craft bags are missing, Tim never misses a beat: "These things sometimes happen for a reason," he deadpanned. Is Tim a seismic shift to a more sophisticated gay trope on television? Don't count on it. It is a nice aberration though. We're more likely to see leering queens like Michael Kors, who all but offered to pay Daniel V to hang out with him at the end of the show. He emceed a small fashion show we put together at Lord & Taylor and practically drooled on the male models as they came out to show off his low-budget line. But he's like Isaac Mizrahi with talent, so we love him.
Rachel Sklar, the sweetest media gossip blogger there is, launched Tomatoes Are Delicious after departing the helm of FishbowlNY. Less media and a bit more left of center, but she's Jewish and Canadian, what do you expect? She still rocks.
There are VIP lists, and then there is The Fagat Guide's blogroll. I know which one I would prefer to be on. Even if he did throw an extraneous 'A' into my site name. You won't see me complaining.
North Dallas Thirty, a feisty and intelligent conservative voice that frequently chimes in on The Malcontent, shows impeccable taste by quoting me at length, but hasn't yet added me to his blogroll. Not that I even noticed. Sigh.
Glenn Reynolds' An Army of Davids has made quite a splash since it came out. It's nice to see a humble blogger make good. Reynolds is one of those people that makes me feel very old, because he and I were both partying in warehouses listening to techno in the early nineties, and now he is lord of all he surveys in the blogosphere. It's enough to make you a little insecure.
Alright, Josh, there's your post. I'll try to write more soon. Perhaps it would help if we swapped blog energy through our mouths. Strangely enough, my traffic has picked up a little steam since I went pretty much dormant. Are you people trying to tell me something?
