It would be hard to look at the expression on this woman's face and maintain the fantasy that the liberation of Iraq was a failure. They have a lot of work to do before the infrastructure of democracy will take form, but this election was one of the most powerful groundbreaking ceremonies I have ever witnessed. No fan of this administration, I have nevertheless continuously supported the decision to right the wrongs, some initially aided and abetted by the United States, inflicted on Iraq by their ruthless and sadistic dictator.
At this point, you have a choice. Hope that this election succeeds in forming a stable government in the heart of the middle east, or actively root for it to fail, drowning the country in civil war and strengthening the hold that other two-bit dictators have on that region. The proud Iraqi woman above knows what I know, that there is only one choice worth believing in.
